Sudden Decision'Kay in a previous journal I said that I hated my username and I wanted to change it but I said I wouldn't because it was too much work. Well, I changed my mind. But hating my username isn't my main reason for leaving this account. Earlier today my mom gave me some internet awareness sites to look at...and it kind of put some fear in me because I read some stuff that I didn't know about. (and I thought I was already cautious, peh. xD) So yes. I'm changing accounts. It's going to be a rather slowish process, cause I'm currently cleaning this one out as much as I can and I have like, 138 deviations to be deleted or so. And who knows how many faves. xD; And no, I'm not giving out my new account name when I do create it. I'm going to watch the ones I know and tell you it's me, if I decide to do so. Anyway, here's one of the rules of the great internet I haven't been too keen on following very well...

The Composition of my thoughtsWell, I thought I'll sum up some pointers and tips regarding composition. I used some of my photos as examples in the different topics. I hope I can help, or even refresh, some of you photographers out there. If you have anymore ideas to share here, please do.
What would you say is the most important thing in a good photograph?
Colors? Idea and expression? Sharpness? Perspective?
Well, since there are no "right and wrong" (just opinions) everyone is right, but in my book, one of the most important thing is definitely composition.
It's the same in almost every art form, but since in photography you don't always have time to plan the situation in details, composition becomes a very important skill in your decision making.
I never learned photography in the "old fashion" way of school or teachers, and my composition skills have developed by my own sense of intuitive point of view. It's only later that I diagnosed the decision making I made without thinking about it.

Ever wondered about IR photography (Infra Red) ?In General
Well, a few words about Infrared.
I will not get too technical cause it’s not my strong side, just a few words about it. Infrared photographs show a kind of thermo effect. Trees with white leaves and luminous white clouds against colored skies are the most common use for it. Many photographers on DA have tried it in the last few years and it seems to be more and more popular.
The Infrared opens a window on a parallel world intriguingly different to the one we usually see. The effect is surreal ans it shows a different kind of "documenting reality".

We can't see Infrared light without the filter, we can only see it when It's isolated. Infrared photography is often confused with thermal imaging. It's not, It's just shows an effect similar to that. The difference is basically one of wavelength of electromagnetic radiation.

Digital Asset Management (DAM)is a tool you should learn about.
I want to present two basic ideas, in 3 simple steps (and tips), to help you manage your photography work better. The first is managing you work on you computer (organizing it), and the second is the keywords and tags you add to it when submitting your work on-line.
A few words of introduction first. If you are a starting photographer, this is very important for you. The experienced ones will find it hard to Re-manage all the work they have done, and they probably have a system they work with (working, or not). However, if you are starting now to accumulate your photographs and submitting it on-line, this is essential for you, and easier to do.

Photography has been here for a very long time. Every category in photography already been tried, most places have been photographed, portraits have been done, special techniques, weather... So what do we still find exiting and unique?
The answer is not in "what's being said", rather in "the way we say it". It's not the subject of the photo, rather the way we take it, show it, make our own definition of it. If you group 20 photographers in one scene, all having the same cameras, you will still get many different photos. Applying icons in Windows XPThis article will show you how to apply icons on your Windows XP system and will cover various types of icons and provide tips on changing system icons.

The following steps will show you how to apply them:
1. Download the icons (if already downloaded skip to 2).
2. Once downloaded extract the icons (if compressed in a zip/rar file otherwise go on to step 3) using a decompression utility such as Winzip or Winrar. Extract the icons to a directory such as "Harddrive > windows > icons" or any directory you wish.
3. Next, locate the folder or shortcut who's icon you wish to change. Right click on this folder/shortcut and select "Properties" in the menu that appears.
4. Wait for the Properties dialog window to open.

Getting inspired for PhotographyWhat do you do when you don't know what to do
You get these "I don't know what to do next..." phases? When you want to do some photography, but your creative ideas simply ran out... Well, I can tell you what I do. You should know that what works for me may not be right for someone else. I am more of a "street photographer", I don't direst my shots, don't plan them. I'm not into models or stills in particular and so I depend solely on inspiration.
1. Check out the weather.
When I have an idea what I want to take pictures of, it's easy.. I go there. When I have no idea what to shoot, I simply go without knowing where. I check the weather to decide on the general idea. Warm days (without clouds in the sky) are good for urban shots since I don't need the sky in the frame, and it's mostly shaded anyway. Warm days with nice clouds are perfect for IR or landscape. Colder days are great for nature, Macro and reflections (puddles of rain), and they are also good for indoor shots and mood

Long Exposure TutorialThis tutorial is for everyone who loves the magic of night photography, surreal effects, use of lights, and long exposures even at daylight! Or just for everyone who wants to try this section of photography. I used some of my own pictures as examples for the topics I am talking about. Every picture has the EXIF/camera data, so you can see how I took this photo!

The easiest way and also the cheapest to get long exposures is to take photos at night. If you have less light, open the aperture and ISO and shutter speed are constant. If you use a higher ISO you can keep your shutter speed and your aperture, and if you use a slower shutter speed (longer exposures) you can keep the ISO and the aperture! And this is what we need for night photography!
